New Favorite

Andy Spiegel does movie reviews - old movies.  I had intended to keep my favorites for art blogs only.  But Andy is a kindred spirit and he has a thing for the Archers - that's Pressburger and Powell.  Google them.  Best movies ever made - Black Narcissus, Thief of Baghdad, Red Shoes.  I get a tingle even saying the names.

Self Portrait with Sneakers

Self_portrait_w_sneaker Ok still not me.  My legs are way skinnier but those are my green sneakers.  Yep, those are my sneakers.  And Sparky's month long self portrait marathon is over tomorrow but I'm going to keep at.  If they never look like me, well at least the model is free and she'll pose any which way I say.

What day is it?

This is dedicated to my friend db, good friend.  And the days seem to blend because I dated this 6/29.

Touch

Just trying out other skin tones - I was aiming for a honey color.  I used 4 different colors and if you even use the same color over itself, it darkens the color -  caramel, light mahogany, burnt sienna and pale sepia.

Wooofy

Wooofy I can draw dogs too, yes I can.  I also have new pens - Touch.  They're japanese, not refillable and the ink is very bright and saturated.  Only they run out of ink way too quickly.  They have a nice flesh color which lasted all of 2 weeks.  I don't recommend them.  Stick to copic or prismacolor.  The inspirational woofy is here.

Cuddle Buddies

Ever sleep like this?  It's very comfortable.  And here's the inspirational original from Flickrite veggiechick74.  Does that mean that there are 73 other veggiechicks?

Cuddle_buddies

Who_is_this_then According to my mother none of these are me.  Well if it isn't me and I'm looking the mirror when I draw them, who is it?  Well let's leave that metaphysical /Jungian thought for later and instead pay homage to Sparky who started this whole thing.

Clean out your closet

I really recommend it.  I found a folder of old (realy old) drawings I did before I stopped.  The scan is really bad but it was on typewriter paper (remember those) and they're fading fast.  So I'm scanning them all.  I didn't color much in those days.  It was just the line I liked.  I drew lots of these critters and their feet were always so big.  Maybe I was looking for security.

Blue

Blue2 Not me the sky.  I'm not going to worry about that other stuff.  I'd rather just draw.  This was drawn with mechanical pencil first and then I just couldn't not use pen so I went over it without erasing the pencil.  I used blender to smear the pencil which also darkens it and makes it permanent.  I was trying for a hazy summer day water colorish look, sort of.  Here's the Flickr inspired original.
