Endings and Beginnings

Girl_with_orange_hair_1 More art store saling today (is there an action verb for going to sales?).  I made the last discovery of the year.  It's so nice to not know something (that everyone else does) and discover it and think it's the greatest thing ever.  Watercolor crayons and pencils - yep.  I've solved my dilemma of messy paint.  It's really neat.  I just wet the tip with one of those little water brushes and there's color.  It's magic.  And they come in loads of colors - even flesh tone (mine).

My main thing (can't use the resolution or goal word which is why I say portfolio instead of journal) for this year is to concentrate on watercolor.  It took 2 years to learn to draw (still learning of course) so I'm going to put the same concentration into watercolor as I did into drawing.  It's called transference of obsession or at least it would be if there was a medical term for it.

And so here are the last 2 watercolors of the year and I hope you all have a very happy new one.

The Dream

This Now

The_now A morning drawing before I head out the door for errands and a 20% of your whole order sale at Jerrys Artarama in Lantana and then lunch a California Pizza Kitchen they make great salads and have the best unflavored ice tea ever and I'm back to run on sentences aren't I?  Ooh look, it's not a cat.

My favorite part of this drawing?  The hand, the fingers actually, I like how I did that.

More Dream Babies

No color for these.  I wanted to show you just the lines.

And this is the final drawing in my 19th journal.  I use the Itoya Art Portfolios - 48 archival inserts.  I think I may have done over 1,000 drawings this year.  19 portfolios x48 = 912 plus the catalog journal and the watercolors and larger drawings.  I was hoping to do 20 journals by the end of the year but I don't think even I can do another 48 by Monday.

Spring Fragrance

She's in her new home in France in the arms of Caroline's daughter.  And here's the link to Caroline's lovely photos on Flickr.  These are so much better then my photos.

Dream on Babies

This one was a little bit easier.  Here's the inspirational kitties.

Dream Babies

Now this one was hard to do.  First I have to figure out who's on top and draw that line first.  Then I start the line, look a the pix and don't look at the paper.  It starts out like a contour drawing that way I get the lines in the right place.  It's hard to explain but it's the only way I can do it with a pen and get a nice clean line - otherwise it's fits and starts.  And here are the inspirational babies.

If you'd like to purchase a drawing, just let me know and I'll post it on my Etsy shop.

Wishbone

I give up. I'll draw people in between drawing these cuties. I started drawing these guys around April when my cat Leo became sick. It really helped after he was gone but I just haven't been able to stop. How could I? This guy even has a little wishbone mark. I think I've done around 30 plus of them. It's too late this year but next year I'm going to start counting. Maybe I'll do a little book(let) at 100. I don't think it will stop me from drawing them but it might put a little structure around this cute overload I'm going through.  And why not pay a visit to fofurasfelinas, Wishbone's human.

Wishbone is on my Etsy shop and is 5"x7", marker and pen on paper. You can put him in a 5"x7" frame without a mat. I use an 8"x10" frame and a mat. Either way, he's really cute.
