The Varsity
I mostly use the Art Pen. The pilot varsity is pretty good though for a $2.99 disposible fountain pen. The nib is a bit thinner but the ink flows better in the Art Pen. But $18 vs $2.99? Neither pen is sold locally. The varsity is sold at Office Max but in a three pack - black, purple and blue. So I googled to see if there were any other stores selling it and came across a pen review site where they described how you can actually refill the varsity.
Use some paper towels because it could be a little messy. Just take some pliers and pull the nib out. Easy, it comes out just a like a bottle stopper. Fill the pen with ink - it has a window on the barrell so you can see how much ink to put in. Put the nib back in and there you have it. A refillable disposible pretty good drawing fountain pen for $2.99. Now go and find it on line.

You bet I will!!! Ha-ha. You know your readers!

THANK YOU! I have been buying these pens for years and everytime I had to throw one out I felt bad about it. I tried using an empty pen by dipping it in ink but it never occurred to me to pull out the tip with plyers...duh! And, if I haven't already commented here...just want to say your drawings are spirited and memorable. ~Sharon

You're so prolific Janey... I struggle to keep up and they are all so good. I enjoy all your latest posts with the face and figure drawings. I love your linework and the patches of color here and there. They're great.

No pen can beat 3 for $1 pens - no brand - that I bought in a $1 All("Un Precio Todo") store in San Luis, Mexixo, just across the border from USA.
They are amazingly good. Work fine all te time and are probably made by a brand name to me marketed in Mexico.

Thanks Sharon, it never occurred to me either until I read about it. Makes me want to look at all the other stuff I through out.

Thank you Ronell, I actually haven't been drawing as much lately. I'm working on a quilt which is almost done.
And Yari, I do love the dollar stores. I buy my dip pens there.
