To RuPaw, a big old loveable cat

RuPaw went to a gentler place today.  I almost missed Linda's post about the big guy because I was feeling sorry for myself over renovation and work and life in general lately.  I'm so glad she blogged about him and told some wonderful stores.  These true friends are here for a such a short time.  Their life just passes by in a blink or a wink as the case may be.  As I type and look at Gertie sleeping near the keyboard, I kick myself everytime I ever yelled at her to get a life and leave me alone.  I am her life so why should she?  Yep, Gertie can sleep on the keyboard anytime she wants.  And I think I'm going to go wake her up so I can give her a big hug.

I disappeared again didn't I?

I'm in desparate need for a pick me up so back to drawing babies, of one species or another.  It makes me feel good.

Those eyes

Let's see, no whiskers, no eyebrows and now poka dot eyes.  I definitely need therapy.

She's in red

9"x12, markers and crayons.

Shes in Red

I'm back at least until Thursday

And maybe the renovation will be finished by this weekend and maybe I have my apt back.  .And then maybe I can get back to drawing and posting.  It's going to take some effort I think to get back into the swing of it.  I've sort of lost the urgency, not to draw but to post it everyday.  It's probably a good thing though to step back and get a fresh perspective on things.

In her arms is 11"x14", markers and crayons and too big for the scanner.

I'm still here, yes I am and here's my new loveseat

I go to a flea market in Ft Lauderdale the first Saturday of every month.  Walking into the parking lot my vision narrowed and my eyes were glued to 3 orange chairs.  Eames?  Nah.  I walked up those little babies and introduced my self.  The dealer came over and said those are Eames chairs.  Yep I said.  You know what those are?  Yep I said in my most I don't care voice.  How much?  $50 each.  How about $100 for all 3?  No, those are Eames chairs, that's a firm price.  How about $110?  No, firm.  Ok.  Dbd and I walked away and came up with $120 between us. I walked back and said how about $120?  It's all I have on me.  No, firm price.  It's all I have.  See, here's the money.  Wellll, he said, those are Eames chairs.  And he grabbed the money and now I have 3 lovely orange Eames chairs that hook up to each other and that's how I now have a new loveseat.  I was planning on getting a new sofa and loveseat next year and now all I need is the sofa.

And they cleaned up ok too except for the gum on the undersides.  So it's a pretty good guess they were in a school.  After goo be gone and avon and nail polish remover I realized that the gum was vintage too.  So I carefully scrapped it off each chair with a cheap Ikea scissor which was promptly thrown away.  Each chair has this sticker.  I went on Ebay and they start at aruond $50 so I didn't get the bargain of the century but I also didn't pay for shipping.

Eames

And to top the day off, I found some real bargain fireking glassware.  The dealer had a bargain table and they really were bargains.  Each set was a $1 a set.  4 mugs $1, 6 olive coffee mugs $1, 3 green bowsl $1, 2 pretty little dishes $1 and Prince Albert in a can ($5).  For some odd reason, I've always wanted Prince Albert in a can.

Fireking

And one last topper.  I had 2 large plastic chairs from Home Depot on the patio.  Too large for the patio and too large for me.  Well dbd had 2 small vintage rockers on her patio.  So mine went to her and hers to me.

Yep.  I had a very nice day.  And next Friday my bathroom renovation is done and I can clean up and find things and have my life back and start posting and blogging again and get back to my zines.

There is an end in sight yes yes yes there is

Ikea cabs bathroom1 Here's the Ikea cabinet for the vanity.  1 full size sink cabinet and a 3 drawer cabinet on each side. The walls are yellow but no stripes.  The lights are on dim so I could photograph and the glare makes the wall looked striped.  The light fixtures are a local company.  The cabinets are white with beech veneer doors.  There's one sink, a porcelain vessel sink that fits into the cabinet so it's only about 3" above the countertop.  Corian guy is coming on Friday to measure, then 2 weeks for the top.  The backsplash will be 10 rows of 1" glass tile different shades of green.  The old vanity wrapped around the wall.  But replacing it with another wrap around corian counter would have added $1,000 to the bill.  Besides, I'm into a minimalist phase so instead of 2 sinks, 1.  And no wrap around countertop.

I'm standing in the master bedroom entrance (new studio :D).  The wall facing me and the one by the cabinet are yellow.  The wall opposite the counter is white. Directly opposite the middle of the cabinet is the entrance to the bathroom.

Bathroom Here's the yellow bathroom. Behind that wall is the toilet and the shower.  The wall was the side of my shower which was taken out.  The original idea was for that wall to come down.  Only when the contractor started, he discovered half a dz pipes in the wall so wall stays.  So where my shower was will now be a closet.  I found an Ikea high kitchen cabinet that fits the width 33" and is 24" deep and is about 2 feet short of the ceiling.  It's white has 2 sets of doors which I can get to match the vanity doors.  That green glass tile is going to wrap around the wall and is the same for the vanity.

The new shower will be where the old whirlpool tub was and will be the width of the room so nice and roomy.  The shower guy comes to measure for the glass doors and the toilet goes in Friday hopefully.  Which means that there's a 2 week break before the countertop is installed and the rest of the work is completed.  Which means I have the place to myself and I can finally finish the April zine which will now be in June.  So there's definitely an end in sight, until the other bathroom that is.

sketchy Monday.  I can draw bigger now but nothing makes me happier then a 5"x7" quickie.  Lots of 5"x7" quickies.

When I draw larger, I draw slower.  These are 5"x7" and very fast like drawing cats.  It doesn't matter what the line looks like, just the feeling you get after.  Drawn with my new favorite pens - prismacolor fine line markers .003.

the red cup

For Casey who missed the color. And I think the lack of eyebrows in these latest drawings are like the missing whiskers, a topic for therapy.
