Leo went to sleep today at 3PM. It was time, he was in pain and more to come. I know one thing for certain, he will wake up to belly rubs and scratches behind his ears.

So sorry Janey...(big tears)
Maybe Leo and Spike will be friends in kitty heaven both enjoying full body massages.
I came here after being enchanted by these gorgeous photos on flickr - and then I read Leo's story on your blog - the whole story. I can empathise, as it reminded me of my old cat Sooty, and made me think of how much I love my sweet girl Venus. My condolences. I don't think people always understand what it is like to lose a pet. 'Pet' has connotations attached that don't explain the relationship between a human and live in animal adequately. They become your best friend, and losing them is really traumatic.
The drawings you have done of Leo are so beautiful, and a lovely tribute to his life. Be comforted by the thought that Leo is in peace. Blessing to you!
Oh Janey ... I'm so sorry about Leo. What a sweet story about him being a little ball of fur -- and I laughed about him going to sleep mid-stride! :-) You know you did the best and most loving thing you could have done for him. You're in my thoughts.
Thank you all for your kind thoughts. I'm not much of a believer (not at all really) but if I were I'd think I'd be a buddist. So for now I think Leo is curled up in Buddha's lap, soaking up all that love and acceptance. He's a very happy kitty. Oh gee, now I'm going to start crying again.
I just read the news!! Oh Janey!!! ((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))) wish I could will the hurt away. Leo is such an adorably handsome cat, he'll make good friends in kitty nirvana.
Thank you all so much. People have been so nice is in sending me emails and comments. There's alot of very little creatures out there who are much loved it seems.
Oh Janey, I'm so, so sorry. My heart just aches for you. He was a beautiful, beautiful marmalade boy, your Leo. I'll be thinking about you this week...

Thank you Belinda - drawing him as been very helpful. I really didn't think it would hit me this hard. I do miss and I guess I always will. But the sadness is going, now I just want to draw orange cats.

Spike and Leo chasing salamanders together but not catching them. Salamanders belong in heaven too. It's a nice thought.

I'm so sorry--at least you got a little extra time together. It's hard, but you did the right thing.
